Happy birthday Modern Life is Rubbish, the first great Blur album. Probably in my top 3.

The most awaited debut album of the year, and it didn’t disappoint a bit. Extremely powerful and meaningful.

Out this week, the new Strokes album, Comedown Machine. Once again, people expecting Is This It #2 will be disappointed, but this is really better than Angles and more focused than First Impressions of Earth. It seems like they embrace their weirdness instead of coyly showing it to the world.

Much better than it has any right to be, Suede’s first album in, like, ten years. And it’s really good, even if the tracklisting’s weird (4 ballads to end the album?). Also, to people saying they should have reformed with Bernard Butler : Brett did that as the Tears. Remember the Tears? I know.

Also out this week, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s Specter at the Feast. Includes a cover of the Cult, which was frontman’s Robert Levon Been’s late father’s band. Listened to it once and wasn’t impressed, but then again I did it while two kids were yelling and dancing to AKB48’s Sugar Rush.

Out this week. Finally, the Daughter album. It’s on 4AD and it’s indeed very 4AD. Do not listen to this while depressed. Well, unless you’re always depressed, in which case, your life won’t be better, but you’ll have listened to a pretty intense album.
