"Eurydice" by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart // Days of Abandon (Out 5.13.14 via Yebo Music)
The new album from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart is just around the corner, so the band has dropped a second single - the shimmering, blissed out “Eurydice”. The track is a lushly textured beauty that stands up with the best of the band’s catalog. The band continues to push further into sweeping dream pop sounds, stepping back from the heavier shoegaze pop that they originally started with - and i couldn’t be happier to hear the evolution. It’s a great track.
One year after his mini-album debut, former Girls frontman Christopher Owens releases a new song, with a full band orchestration. It’s called It Comes Back to You, and just sounds like Christopher Owens. Which is good.
Some catching up to do after a long interruption due to an uninterrupted sequence of life throwing more lemons at me than I could ever know what to do with (this sentence is brought to you by your local english teacher). Anyway, they’re Scottish and they like fuzz, here’s PAWS’ new song.
Also out today, the debut album from Noel Gallagher favourites Temples. I haven’t heard the album, but the Noel recommendation makes it worth it, even if only for the laughs. Who knows, it might be good.
Also out today (tomorrow in the US) the debut album from Crosses (†††), which is Chuck Doom, Shaun Lopez and Chino Moreno. Includes all tracks from the first two EPs and seven other tracks. It’s obviously great.
Here’s tatu from the Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony. They were mining, the drummer didn’t even try and the “dancers” even less, but this is a great song still. Too bad the girls couldn’t do anything else unless they wanted to go the Pussy Riot in working camps way :/
