Leak yesterday, stream today : here come Palms.
Remember Incubus? And the pretty boy singing? It looks like Brandon Boyd has a new EP coming out on June 25, and here’s the first track off it.
I Is Another is what happens when Jonah Matranga (Far, onelinedrawing, New End Original, Gratitude) meets Ian Love (Rival Schools, Cardia).
Their debut album is streaming now, only 7 tracks + 3 acoustic versions, but it’s very intense and rocking.
Ok, single-track albums are rather annoying. But 1) this is free 2) it comes from Italians Do It Better and 3) It’s got new Chromatics music. So get it.

For some reason, Amazon has got the stream for the Islandic (now) trio’s new album, which is said to be more aggressive. Not really sure how that translates in Hopelandic, only one way to find out.
For some stupid reason, I forgot to post about Sebadoh’s new album (after 14 years!). It’s out on September 17th (yes, even later than NIN) and there’s a track out there already, go listen.
Hey, here’s a new Kurt Vile video. I can’t watch it because of territorial restrictions, but chances are you can.
Obviously. New NIN.
First single from the upcoming album “Hesitation Marks,” out 9.03.13.
First grab off I Hate Music.
fuck yeah new Superchunk
Obviously one of the biggest rock albums of the year, it will also be one of the best. Puzzling, different, amazing.
Hope you’ll have a great week. It starts here and now, with a stream of the new Surfer Blood album, out next week.

Not out this week, but only available on Spotify now, Vampire Weekend’s very refined third album. I’ll never be a fan, but there are many things to like there, mostly Ezra Koenig’s fantastic wordplay and Rostam Batmanglij’s mastery of insane sounds.
Also out this week, the fifth Alice in Chains album, and the second with William DuVall (who replaced Jerry Cantrell when Jerry Cantrell replaced Layne Staley, I insist). It’s also probably their worst album, and certainly their blandest, all tracks seem to mash into each other in a very long sludge dirge. And I really liked Black Gives Way to Blue
I’ve been slacking quite a lot these days, sorry. Here’s a stream of the new Eisley album, released this week. It’s pretty disorienting, ambitious without being self-centered and actually very fucking good. There’s a track with Max Bemis, and another one with, I think, SEVEN DuPree family members.
Can’t ever get tired of lo fi guitar indie pop rock things. Bass Drum of Death - Crawling after You.
Trent, you filthy liar.
Trent Reznor, 5.28.13. New NIN album later this year on Columbia Records. (via nineinchnails)
Remember a couple of years back, Kyuss reunited without Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri left a bit later. They changed their name to Vista Chino and now released their first new song, Dargona Dragona. It’s good.
Thousand million blogs are gonna post this, but hey, new Boards of Canada.

‘Tomorrow’s Harvest’
Monday 10th June 2013 (Tuesday 11th in N. America)
- The Internets : oh hay Tumblr is evil now you have to leave where are you going now?
- Musicboxblog : If I have a real, sensible reason to leave Tumblr, I will. But it is not today.
This is something of an indie dream team : sisters Katie Crutchfield (aka Waxahatchee) & Allison Crutchfield (Swearin’) cover Grimes’ Oblivion. One of the best songs in recent memory becomes a lovely lo-fi melody. Lovin’ it.
Brand new Stone Temple Pilots with new singer Chester Bennington, of Linkin Park fame. It exactly sounds like classic STP with a more reliable singer.
Each week or so I will bring you a free, legal Pearl Jam bootleg, from my nearly complete collection. Legal means not available on sale from pearljam.com, so if you want a particular bootleg from 2008 onwards, please head there. Unless it hasn’t been released (yet?), like this one (and the one after that, actually).
In september 2011, Pearl Jam hosted their own festival, to commemorate their 20th anniversary. They played with The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age, Glen Hansard, Mudhoney and a host of others. Pearl Jam headlined both nights which were full of highlights.
Night One included live premiere of In The Moonlight (feat Josh Homme), rare outings of certain tracks (Setting Forth, Help Help) a shitload of guest spots including Josh Homme but also Julian Casablancas, Liam Finn or Mudhoney. Most of the first encore is a Temple of the Dog reunion, featuring Chris Cornell on vocals (and a Mother Love Bone song).
Setlist (courtesy of Two Feet Thick) : Release, Arms Aloft, Do The Evolution, Got Some, In My Tree, Faithfull, Who You Are, Push Me Pull Me, Setting Forth, Not For You/(Improv), In The Moonlight, Deep, Help Help, Breath, Education, Once, State of Love and Trust, Better Man, Wasted Reprise, Life Wasted
first encore: Rearviewmirror, Stardog Champion, Say Hello 2 Heaven, Reach Down, Hunger Strike, Love Reign O’er Me, Porch
second encore: Kick Out The Jams
Would you be interested in Pearl Jam audio bootlegs? I have a huge collection, and could post once a week or so.
It would only be legal bootlegs (= not those on sale from pearljam.com) + for space-related (and my small upload speed) constraints, they’ll be in mp3, but in the highest quality available (most of the time in V0 encoded from FLAC).
Answer or “like” to show you interest.
(and I’d probably start with the PJ20 anniversary shows chock-full of special guests)
non-album single!
Mudhoney’s new single: “New World Charm” b/w “Swimming in Beer” and “The Swimming in Beer Blues.” More info here.
Happy birthday Modern Life is Rubbish, the first great Blur album. Probably in my top 3.
The Vår album is released next week, and here’s another track off it. It’s still very compelling, martial drumming and frantic acoustic guitar. Also, Elias sounds even more like Robert Smith now.
Great Thunder is Katie Crutchfield, who’s made one of the best albums of 2013 as Waxahatchee and her drummer/boyfriend Keith Spencer. This is 90s-oriented lo-fi indie rock, what’s not to like? AND there’s a cover of Fade Into You.
(also the fact they’re listed as brother/sister on Facebook makes me chucke)
Listen/purchase: Strange Kicks ep by Great Thunder
